Touching Up a School

Helpful Hands team

Helpful Hands Volunteers

We kicked off Ace’s National Helpful Hands Campaign in DC a couple weeks ago at Duke Ellington School of the Arts in Georgetown. The school’s gallery space where students display their art was in need of a fresh paint job, and we swooped in with 12-foot ladders and tubs of 5-gallon paint to give it a facelift.

Our staff (including the Ace Man himself, Lou Manfredini) teamed up with a spirited group of students and we got the job done in 12 hours over 2 days. (If you ever need to restore your faith in the future of America, you have to meet the kids at this school.) Frog Tape, brushes, sanders and paint-can openers scattered the floor while we primed, painted and trimmed our way to an amazing new space. What a difference a fresh coat of paint can make!
